The SiteHoppin' Beer Algorithm
SiteHoppin' uses the Beer Algorithm to show the best sites whenever a SiteHopper presses the SiteHoppin' button.
The Beer Algorithm is also used to randomly select users' hops when they use Beer Credits to get free traffic to their site.
While developing the site, our developer(s) decided to develop "The Beer Algorithm", sorta like Google's PageRank with more than legal alcohol levels.
How It Works
Every site has its beer rating and # of beers on the wall.
There are 2 ways how a site will show up before others.
1. A site has a high beer rating of 4 beers or more. (This might change in the future to a higher value depending on how many sites are added to the SiteHoppin' index)
2. A site has more than 3 beers on the wall. (Having lots of beers on the wall ranks you higher in the Beer Algorithm regardless of your beer rating)
Any random "Site Hop" (Shuffle mode) will incorporate the "Beer Algorithm", which will show you a new site based on how popular the site is. The most popular sites with higher beer ratings or higher number of beers on the wall will show up the most often.
By using the "Beer Algorithm", over a period of time, we can have a community voted "SiteHoppin'" results.
Basically, SiteHoppin' is a human powered search engine with couple of good brew added.
How to rate sites with beers?
It's very simple to rate sites with beer bottles.
Rating a site with more beer bottles mean that the site you rate is funny, interesting, or simply worth your time to drink that many beers.
The less beer bottles you give a site, the less interesting that site is and sometimes, you probably wanted to drink zero beers while on that site.
